We consider each of our properties a second home, and this is how we want you to enjoy them. Our properties are a bit like our children, each with their own character, looks and charm and each filled with traces of who we are and what we love.
Our hotels and lodges were handpicked for their prime locations in the African bush, at the ocean and in the beautiful city of Cape Town.
Certain properties in the More family have been handed down from generation to generation. Others took an incredible amount of passion and patience to find and to transform into the special and singular destinations they are today. Over the past ten years we have learned that our guests value what we value – those real experiences, which allow them to connect with a place, and keep it with them for a very long time.
LION SANDS GAME RESERVE
Your Private Safari Home
Despite being well grounded, there is an ‘otherwordly’ quality to Ivory Lodge. Each of the 9 Villas (including the exclusive Fish Eagle Villa for small groups of friends and families) offers an utterly personal safari where extraordinary service, magnificent interiors and the perfection of this untouched African wilderness combine to make magic. We’ve taken our cue from Mother Nature to create a lodge built ‘of the earth’, with natural materials which will only enhance the surrounding bush environment, including the spectacular views of the Sabie River.
Your contemporary Colonial Home
Just 9 Luxury Suites make the Tinga experience a personal one. Each has its own deck with plunge pool and has been designed for maximum appreciation of the wild along the bank of the Sabie River. www.lionsands.co.za
Perched among a canopy of 100 year old trees overlooking the Sabie River, Narina Lodge’s 9 Luxury Suites each afford complete privacy. Whether guests choose to spend time at their private plunge pool, reclining on the couch in the lounge, lazing on their bed with a good book, or soaking in a bubble bath, they will not be cheated of the breathtaking panorama. www.lionsands.co.za
The Soul Safari
At River Lodge, guests need not move far to appreciate extraordinary wildlife, or to marvel at the spectacular riverside view. We have tried to capture the entrancing spirit of the Sabie River and always smile at that moment when we see our guests forging their own connection with that special energy that cannot be seen but can definitely be felt. Guests are encouraged to make River Lodge their very own private safari home, ensuring that the time spent on safari remains the highlight of their visit to South Africa. www.lionsands.co.za
MARATABA SAFARI LODGE
Where the plains touch the mountains.
Marataba is a malaria-free 23000 hectare private concession within the Marakele National Park (Limpopo, South Africa). Just four hours from Johannesburg, this is a sanctuary where busy people can find themselves again by connecting with nature. We were rendered breathless by the dramatic Waterberg mountains, vast plains, rich animal diversity and winding rivers cutting through the landscape. Marataba is about contrasts. Between verdant plains and the ochre-red mountains; between modern and ancient; between animals mammoth and miniscule. No matter how many times we return, the impact is always the same and it’s like falling in love all over again. Allow us to share it with you. www.marataba.co.za
MARATABA TRAILS LODGE
An incomparable walking safari on Nature’s terms, without compromising on the creature comforts.
Marataba Trails Lodge is situated on the Kransberg Range and is part of the Waterberg Biosphere. Its trails extend over peaks and valleys, and promise spectacular scenery and wildlife. This is the only non-malaria Big Five walking trail in South Africa and is just 3.5 hours from Johannesburg.
The luxurious lodge is built ‘of the earth’ around sound ecological methods and principles. This is the place for the person who is after a ‘Digital Detox’, wanting to disconnect completely.
All trails are based on either two or three night departures. Marataba is blessed with a great diversity of ecosystems and landscapes. The trails make use of different areas of the reserve, ensuring a variety of experiences. Guides will assess each of the individual guests, and will match trails to suit fitness levels and walkers’ personal preferences. Trails include Riverine Trails, Gorge Trails, Mountain Trails, and Interest Trails. www.marataba.co.za
MADIKWE SAFARI LODGE
Untamed and untainted wilderness Madikwe Game Reserve is a 75 000 hectare malaria-free reserve located northwest of Johannesburg (an easy four hour drive) along the Botswana border. Madikwe Safari Lodge is one of our younger family members and is very close to our hearts. With much love, patience and perseverance we have watched it grow and evolve into something that can only be described as bewitching. Just like the adolescents in our family, it possesses an authentic and uncontrived simplicity that is endearing and utterly captivating. Whether you are after solitude or companionship, romance or adventure, activity or leisure – our team cannot wait to welcome you. www.madikwesafarilodge.co.za
